This silver retractable banner looks great in the lobby of the theater I run. We are a small theater in a small city. We needed something to encourage repeat patrons. We always got a good audience if we had a big act coming through, but that was about it. We also host charity events, school plays, community plays and concerts, as well as the lesser known "off broadway" acts. Have you ever noticed how expensive banner stands are getting? I hadn't, until recently that is, when I was looking for a new banner stand to put in our trade show booth for an upcoming exhibition. We've had the same banner stand for years and it finally broke. When my boss came to me and gave me the task of finding a new banner stand, he had to criteria it had to meet: 1) it had to be good quality to withstand frequent use, and 2) it had to be cheap. A food bin will display food and keep it clean…last winter my grandmother got very sick so I embarked on a three plane ride to Caracas, Venezuela. Nothing to it, you say?

Well did I mention that I live in RI, and I had to make my first stop in Detroit…yes! you guessed it, the plane could not continue due to a snow storm.

The decent was hell, I lost my connection to Houston, well that was the worst of it …or so I thought.

The next morning I crawled out of bed and went down to the hotel lobby to get some breakfast before hopping on the bus back to the airport and what did I see? A FLY!!!!

I had a decision to make: do I eat the food and risk getting sick or do I starve ….but then I saw it, the bagel bin…sorry the ENCLOSED bagel bin.

It had a hinged door to access the bagels. Since it was made from clear acrylic I could see the bagels and decide which one I wanted before opening the door. I was so happy!

Would this mean that my luck was finally turning? Maybe. That day I was able catch all my planes and finally saw my grandmother.

Have you ever heard of an inanimate object, like a food display bin, having supernatural powers? Me either! Well, until the other day, when I read the newspaper headlines while waiting in line to pay for my gas at the convenience store. The headlines said, "Customers Bewitched By Food Display Bin!" At first I thought it must have been a really slow day for the newspaper staff, no murders or car accidents to report about. No government scandals. But as I stood there, and read the entire article, I was rather creeped out. Apparently, this new bakery that had recently opened in town had bought all of these food display bins from a company called Candy-Dispenser.us.com. Customers that went into the bakery could never leave without buying one of the yummy, delicious treats. But what person can resist fresh, mouthwatering pastries and desserts? As I continued reading, I found that the customers actually claimed to have been "bewitched" by the food display bins! What a ridiculous claim! The article showed a picture of these people that actually looked like zombies leaving the bakery, stuffing their face with a pastry, and being so hypnotized they walk right out into traffic! A bunch of the customers were actually filing lawsuits against the bakery and their "hynotic food display bins". What a world. Everyone wants to blame their problems on someone else. At least the food display bins were always attractive looking, stocked with delicious treats.

The bakery display made me do it. I apologize! I stumbled upon this acrylic bin at my local bakery and could not resist their beautiful display of cookies and pastries. To make matters worse, the top tray of goodies was tilted forward as to offer me a selection. How could you do this to me? I am viciously dieting for my sister’s summer wedding! She wants us to wear these royal purple mermaid tail dresses that only look good on size 2, 6-foot tall beauties! How could you tempt me with your clear acrylic display and angled trays! And when the baker took out the tray to serve me my treat, it slide out so smoothly I had an Ally McBeal-like hallucination of me grabbing the tray and running down the aisle as if I was carrying a football to score the winning touchdown!

Clearly this bakery display has had an effect on me and I must avoid this bakery at all costs! I know I know, you’re thinking to yourself “how in the world can a menu holder save lives?” Well that’s why I am writing this blog. Clearly this is a characteristic unbeknownst to the average person, which I shall reveal for all to embellish its glory.

I went to this family-run restaurant the other day on a blind date, with whom I was set up with by a mutual friend. We were clearly not meant to be together as his love of hunting and sky-diving would not blend well with my vegan ideologies and relatively safe, unadventurous existence. Hey, I’m a daredevil sometimes; I have been known to wear flip flops on the subway! Anyways, so Monty and I were off to a slow start on our date when I noticed this awesome menu holder sitting on the table. I began to flip through its vinyl sleeves, each filled with a beautiful picture of decadent goodness. While Monty rambled on about skinning a live rabbit, I drifted off into a chocolately dream world…

My second encounter with the life-saving abilities of this menu holder was recently at a bar. I pretty much went as a wingman for my best friend, Judy. She had broken up with her girlfriend of over 6 years and was finally ready to see what else was out there. So we went out a lesbian bar to have a few drinks, a few laughs and maybe find true love for my Judy. Well Judy certainly found someone she liked a whole lot and completely ditched me 2 hours into the night. There I was, alone at the bar of a lesbian nightclub. But then I found the menu holder, its black molded plastic glistening among the disco ball lights. Its vinyl sleeves were filled with elaborate cocktails and smoothie beverages. Again I was lost in the menu display’s trance…

Okay okay. So the menu holder didn’t truly save my life, but it did distract me during unbearable situations. And in the end, as a marketing tool, it was extremely successful because I did have Monty buy me a piece of the double chocolate cake and I received quite a few free drinks at the lesbian bar…So in a sense, it did save my life…

I was looking all over for some kind of favor to give at my sister's bridal shower. I had no idea what to get, and was having a lot of trouble finding something teal to match her wedding's color scheme. Then I stumbled upon this site, Food-Display.us.com. Random, I know, considering I was looking for shower favors. Anyways, I found these cute sign clips with teal bases! I thought they would be perfect for clipping on different clues for some of the shower games I had planned. I also thought of some other things I could clip onto the sign clip, like pictures of my sister and her friends and family for people to take home. The sign clips were very affordably priced so I ordered a whole bunch, and figured I could use some for the wedding too.

The sign clips arrived just a couple days before the shower, perfect timing. And they were a big hit! Everyone thought they were so cute, and the color matched the scheme perfectly. My sister the bride even came up with other places we could use the extra sign clips on the wedding day. So I guess I did pretty good!

I AM A NEAT FREAK. I hate messes. When I go out to eat, I get in trouble with my fiance because I start to pick up our plates and neaten up the table for our waiter or waitress. He gets upset and says that we are out to eat, and I should relax. We leave a tip for our server, so it is their job to clean up. Well, too bad for him because I honestly can't help myself.
