Ever go to a restaurant and no longer want to eat there once you’ve seen their beaten-up, torn-up menu? What about when you open it up and find a bit of food left over from the last patron? That makes me want to gag just thinking about. (“Shudder”) Well this past weekend my boyfriend and I went to the local eatery to partake in what we had hoped would be a fine yet casual dining experience. It was a small diner, seating maybe 50 total patrons at one time, (although I doubt that has ever happened) sandwiched between a discount shoe store and a "Just a Buck." I suppose we should have made an assumption, based on its neighbors, that this restaurant would not necessarily spend a lot of money (or energy) on the upkeep of their menus. But we figured, “it’s been here for over 25 years, they must be doing something right. Right?” Well we couldn’t tell you what the food tasted like, we left after viewing their food-splattered menu!
My starving boyfriend and I ended up eating at a local fast food restaurant, which provided free WIFI services. I was livid that our dinner plans were ruined by the restaurant’s awful upkeep. How hard can it be to keep your menus looking new? Jonathan was too busy stuffing his face to answer, so I turned to the Internet for salvation. Only after a few clicks, I stumbled upon this incredible site, Tabletents.us.com. There I found an assortment of menu holders, all of which were being sold at extremely reasonable prices! How could this restaurant be so cheap? These menu holders are made from satin black leatherette and 10 gauge PVC plastic panels, making them able to withstand the hustle and bustle of any busy, well-established restaurant. The plastic panels are easy to clean with a damp cloth, therefore preventing future patrons from sampling their predecessors’ cuisines. And when a menu is updated or overhauled, like in that “Restaurant Nightmares” TV show, a restaurateur can easily slide their new selections into each protective sleeve.
Clearly this restaurant was taking the easy way out of keeping their facility clean and well-maintained. Maybe Gordon should pay them a visit! Too bad we will never know how good their food was because as I couldn’t quite see the menu through all of the mashed potatoes (I’m guessing) smushed between pages.
