Trophy Cases in a Simpler Time
Finally, the answer to our prayers. Mother had been waiting for this type of occasion for it seems like forever, at least since Tuesday last. With the recent events surrounding her mother’s death, time passed a little more slowly in our cottage. I can’t stand to see my wife in such a world of sorrow, so what luck was it that when I took the carriage to get some supplies from town that I found a youngin’ using “the internet” and upon a website with trophy cases. Now, I had my fair share of trophies, including first place in the apple dumpling eating contest, and I have best beard for 2 years running. Mother of course had a medal for best quilt, but these were not the things that needed to be displayed, nor even mentioned. I did think of placing some of her mother’s most valuable possessions on display, as a sort of shrine to her. We had a great harvest this year, and I had just enough money to buy one of these trophy cases to display proudly in our stately 3 room cottage. After we raise a barn on the day before the Sabbath, I will surely make Ethel smile proudly as I present to her this display. If we had electricity I could show her how wonderful everything looks with the halogen lighting, but I know she’ll be completely enamored with the wonderous sliding door, surely a sight to see!
