I live in a tiny apartment without much space to store anything. Because of my tiny living quarters, and my need to be organized, I am constantly looking for alternative methods to save space while still continuing to store the essentials. I used to use this skinny red dispenser everyday at college! How ironic is it that I was at college preparing to get a job out in the real world. Finally, I graduate, land a job and I am working at a company that sells the stuff I used to use at school. I was trying so hard to get away from that place! Stop haunting me! Oh well, life comes full circle, I suppose. Anyways, I'll let you know a little about this skinny red dispenser. At my dining hall, it was always filled with Golden Grahams in the morning (my favorite!), and sprinkles (or "jimmies" as we say) for your ice cream in the afternoon and evening. Now, I could never figure out if they switched out the dispensers or if they unloaded the cereal and loaded it up with sprinkles. I'm hoping they switched them out, but who knows. They also had a few more dispensers of the same style, in different colors, like green and black. These were filled with other cereals and ice cream toppings. So I work in an office. And sometimes on a hot day, or just when the office gets toasty in the afternoon when the air turns off, you need a little pick-me-up to keep those eyelids open through the rest of the afternoon. In my department, we decided the solution to the mid-day slump was a candy dispenser for our department, and not just any candy dispenser. The candy dispenser we got was gravity fed, unlike other candy dispensers that are "portion-controlled". Who needs small portions of candy?! There is nothing like pulling that lever and having that yummy, delicious, sugary goodness coming flowing into your hand like an unstoppable monsoon. The only downside to the gravity fed candy dispenser was that we went through our supply of candy VERY quickly. I mean the thing holds 3 gallons of candy. THREE WHOLE GALLONS! You'd think it would last a while, but we went through that like nothing. With every trip to the water cooler, there was a stop for a handful of candy. We had to put a rotation schedule in place, so everyone had a turn filling the candy dispenser with their favorite type of candy. We tried to make it a rule that those people who didn't want to take a turn filling the dispenser couldn't get to take any of the candy. But of course that didn't work. (Note to self: Maybe install a security device?)
